Pre-School and Nursery
At Merry Go Round we offer pre-school provision for children over two and a half, and a nursery class for children the year before they start reception.
While we have close links with Hartsfield school, children from our nursery also go on to other schools in the area.
To cater for the needs of the different ages of the children, our nursery is open every week day morning from 8.45 to 11.45am.
Our pre-school sessions run for three or four afternoons from 12.30 to 3.00pm.
We run a lunch club between 11.45am and 12.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Curriculum
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum as set out by the Department for Education. Our provision reflects the following four key themes:
- A unique child
- Positive Relationships
- Enabling Environments
- Learning and Development
Download our prospectus here for more information.
Our Pre School and Nursery sessions allow children to choose from a range of activities, increasing their ability to select and complete tasks. Encouraging the children to take part in new activities allows them to develop new skills and confidence.

*Small Group time – led by an adult, the children participate in small group activities that develop their language, physical development and mathematical skills.
**Circle time – this adult-led discussion time often focuses on the topic for the week. Children also use the opportunity to share news with the group.
Lunch Club
We run a lunch club Monday to Friday between 11.30am and 12.45pm . Children bring their own packed lunch which they eat sitting down in the lunch area. We encourage parents to pack healthy options, and emphasize the social aspects of enjoying a meal together.
Lunch club places are limited and priority is given to nursery age children staying after their morning session. However, if space is available, preschool children can arrive for lunch before joining the afternoon session.
